Therapy for
Children & Teens

Childhood and adolescence is such a unique and exciting time of growth and development. However, it can also be a challenging period as kids and teens struggle to find out who they are and where they fit in. The added pressures of social media, peer comparisons, and identity development can make this period feel like a roller coaster. For kids and teens it can be hard to balance family, school, friends, and extracurricular activities.

Individual therapy can offer an added layer of support outside of family and friends. It can be a safe and helpful outlet for your child or teen to explore their feelings and learn how to express themselves in an assertive way instead of acting out or quietly isolating.

Therapy can be a good next step if you notice your child or teen...

  • Is not as happy or social as they used to be

  • Is making risky choices with friends

  • Is more irritable or moody

  • Is starting to fall behind in school

  • Recently experienced a major transition

  • Could benefit from talking to someone freely

Therapy can help your child or teen...

  • Learn skills to manage stress instead of acting out, hurting themselves, or becoming easily overwhelmed

  • Learn to develop problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to help make healthier choices

  • Learn to assertively express their feelings and needs

  • Change negative thinking patterns

  • Improve confidence and self-esteem

I work primarily with elementary through high school and early college ages focusing on all of the ups and downs that happen during this time.

Therapy is teamwork, so it is important that both you and your child feel comfortable. When working with your child or teen I aim to provide an effective approach that meets their individual needs and personality style. I can connect with even the most guarded teens and will teach them how to cope in the short term while making long-term changes in their self-confidence and ability to handle stress in the future.
